Beth

My name is Beth.
I'm 21 years old and a Junior in college.
I'm married to an old-world gentleman named Matt.
We decided our day to be October 30th, 2009.
It was the happiest day of my life.

I love cooking, beauty, and taking pictures of both.
Although I'm, currently, enrolled as a Psychology major,
I plan to pursue cosmetology schooling after I graduate.
One day, Matt and I are going to own a bakery. ♥
(Because he makes my dreams come true..)

What You Can Expect From This Journal....

I have had many, many livejournals. Probably too many -people used to tease me about it too much. But! I'm a firm believer that, if your life changes, you have to follow the times and adapt.
And, really? The journal I started in 8th grade-freshman year (nearly 6 years ago), simply wouldn't reflect who I am now - although, it is good for a few laughs. My personal journal, connected to my friends, is still in use, but this is for my new phase-- as an engaged/married woman! And as someone who is stepping out into the real world, on my lonesome, for the first time.
It's crazy and scary and I want to make sure to document it as accurately as possible.

In addition, I want to use this space to show you my current projects, makeup tutorials, product reviews, and day-to-day life through pictures! My last/current journal was meant to serve this purpose but never really took off.. but this one will!

So! Summary?
You can expect:
+ Life updates *
+ Product Reviews *
+ Makeup Tutorials *
+ Project Progressions *
+ Day-to-day life *
+ Field Trips *
+ And lots lots LOTS of pictures! [indicated by the "*"]

Hopefully, if you don't know me, personally, you can still find my world entertaining or informative.
Best wishes and God Bless,
Jam'on!
-Beth.

I've been the proud mama to a Dell laptop for the past three or so years. And, while we've had our ups and downs, he has been a good little laptop to me. I have been very grateful for his company; if it had not been for "Phinny", life in the college dorms would have wrecked havoc on my brain. He has been a gateway to the outside world and a faithful friend.
That being said, he is not the most portable of luxuries. Something that I've never particularly held against him. I have, certainly, tried over the years to lug him to classes and lectures, but, although he more than makes up for it in actual functionality, he lacks a certain spontaneous ability to be dropped into a bag and be ready for the day.
Part of this is, more than likely, my own sense of over-protectiveness. But, also, Phinny is quite large (with a 17" screen, you can't blame him) for a laptop. And, despite his bulky size, I'm always in fear of damaging him in some way.

Phineas..

Because of all this, I am currently in market for a new laptop. )

We're rounding the corner right now..
Only 32 days left!

I think about that and feel such a combination of fear and excitement. I fear not for the event itself, but knowing all that's coming our way. Everything from insurance to children.
To aging.
But I'm so ready to hold Matt's hand through all of it.

We've been together for four years. Four years! That's such a long time.
Getting engaged has become such a fad lately. Matt's mom and I were talking about that last night : it seems like everyone's getting engaged. It happens every generation at different ages; everyone sees their friends married and feel the pull to follow suit. Our generation has had its rush particularly early.
I expect to see an alarming number of divorces in about five to ten years.
But I feel so confident that Matt and I have put in the time necessary. We've earned the right to get married.
We've gone through so much together and, although we do love each other, our minds are set even more fastly than our hearts that this is the right decision.

Lady Liz was telling me that when she talks to her friends about Matt getting married.. they can't believe it. Everyone still remembers him as a little boy.
And when they hear my age, "she's twenty," they're all shocked. So young! Too young!
But as soon as she tells them we've been together for four years they're overly-supportive "Oh my! Well, no wonder they're getting married! I would think it would have happened sooner!"
The length of our relationship ages us in a beautiful way. I'm so thankful to have had that time with him.

Thirty-two days.
I think about all the changes I'll have to go through.
I've lost a lot this year with the move. I gave up my entire life to be able to stay here with Matt. There have been times I've regretted the decision - times when I've thought it was the wrong thing to do to my mother (leaving her even earlier than necessary). But, in hindsight, I see I did the right thing. That gives me a great deal of comfort.

She's coming to see me today; she's bringing the dress.

Matt and I, with the kind generosity of the Higgs, have decided on where to spend our mini-honeymoon.
We'll be going to The Martha Washington Inn in Southwest Virginia.
We'll only be staying for a few days, but they will well spent.
On that Sunday, we'll be going to see the Barter Theatre's production of Little Shop of Horrors, which is so appropriate since we'll be getting hitched so close to Halloween. ♥
I've always wanted to see it, and I'm really excited.
It's also appropriate that we go to a performance during that time; that's what we've always done for fun.
So I'm happy that one day, if we decide to have kids, I'll be able to say "well, your father and I have always loved going to the theater, little Johnny! We even went on our honeymoon."
I'm so excited. ♥

Originally, the Higgs were renting these pretty chairs for the wedding, but they were so expensive. And Lady Liz and my mom spoke and they decided they would rather it go to something else. So a honeymoon was born.
They'll still be sending us overseas sometime next year.. which I'm completely thrilled over. I've never been overseas, and she's said we can go anywhere we please.
Right now we're thinking either Italy, The Netherlands, or New Zealand. But we have some time to decide since we won't be going until next summer. :]

I'm happy.

Supah-important

I work in an office. )

Right now, I'm rounding the end of my sophomore year.
Summer is fast approaching and I'm not quite sure where I'm staying or if my family is moving.
But, either way, this is where I'm working for now.

I go to pick the keys for the duplex this Friday after work!
I can't wait to take pictures.

Saturday, I go with Erin, Allan, my parents, and grandma to see Matthew in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
I went last Friday with Katie and it was deliriously funny. Matt did so well.

Sunday, I go to see Judi.. who I'm hoping to live with over the summer. But, of course, it's better to meet her first. She seems really nice, though. And I think we'll get along quite well.

ps. I'm so happy I deleted my facebook.
